Giovanni "Gio" Vancheri
Master Chef Giovanni "Gio" Vancheri, Gio to his freinds, is a freind to all patrons and a 20-year veteran of the Las Vegas food and beverage industry. Gio is currrentlly the owner, host and executive chef of two Las Vegas Award-winning restaurants.
Gio's Cafe Milano is a Five-State Diamond Award-winner, listed by the Academy Awards of the Restaurant industry and the American Academy of Restaurant Sciences as one of the 25 Italian restaurants in the United States in its category. Gio's Cafe Milanoalso has received recognition as a winner of many other prestigious awards.
Chiasso Cafe opened in early 1994 and has won recognition and many awards for its food and trendy atmosphere and is fast becoming one of the top dining spots in Las Vegas. Born in Italy, Gio has more than 35 years experience in the hospitality business. Gio was an honor graduate of George Brown College of Fine Arts at Toronto University in Toronto and a top-of-the-class graduate of the culinary School of Arts in Palermo, Sicily.
Gio also studied and trained in England, Switzerland, Spain, France and Canada.
With awards too numerous to mention, some of Gio's recent accomplishments in Las Vegas include being named Ambassador of Courtesy by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Gio was the co-founder of NACE, the National Association of Catering Executives. He also serves as President of the Las Vegas Chapter of Ciao Italia, the largest Italian restuarant association in the world. Gio also has worked as the Food and Beverage
Manager and Catering Director at Ceasars Palace and the Catering Director at the Desert Inn. He also helped design all facets of the Mount Charleston Hotel.
